Carolyn began painting in 1970, first as a hobby, then semi-professionally for shows and art fairs. Since moving to Sedona in 1974, she has devoted her full professional
attention to her art. An avid traveler and camper, Carolyn has visited the majority of the wilderness areas of the United States which has served as a major inspiration. Her work is influenced by the delicate mystique of the Orient, the quiet solitude of the Midnight Forest and the spectacular
grandeur and vastness of the Southwest.
Born and raised in Southern California, Carolyn attended the University of California at Santa Barbara and Berkeley,
majoring in Decorative Arts. In 1970 she began studying with Grethel Moll and continued her studies in Arizona in
workshops conducted by Zoltan Szabo, Dick Phillips, Robert E. Wood, Fran Larson and others. As a member of the Arizona Watercolor Association, the Sedona Arts
Center and the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society, Carolyn enters selected shows and has won numerous awards. Her work hangs in corporate and private collections across the
United States and Canada.
