As Norma Holden hikes and travels she paints plein-air and takes digital photographs. She paints watercolor and oil landscapes on location, and uses these quick studies and her photographs to complete larger paintings in her Sedona studio. Norma’s recent painting trips include Georgia, the Carolinas, Colorado, California, Arizona and the Mexican Riviera.
Norma creates figurative sculptures and organic shapes in clay, Forton, concrete, hydrostone, Winterstone, cast-paper, resin/fiberglas, and other materials.
She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The College of Wooster in 1975 with a Fine Arts in Education Bachelor of Science degree. Her continuing studies include workshops and classes with Jeanne Carbonetti, Terry Madden, Frank Webb, Tom Lynch, Carol Orr, Betsy Dillard Stroud, Betty Braig, Jim Kosvanec, Anne Allemann, Joyce Killebrew, Dennis Ott, Marilyn Schultz and Diane Maxey.
Norma is a member of the Sedona Visual Artists’ Coalition, Sedona Arts Center, Northern Arizona Watercolor Society, Arizona Artists’ Guild and the Arizona Watercolor Association. Norma has shown her work in numerous juried shows and galleries in Arizona and the Midwest. Her work is in many corporate and private collections across the country.
